PLANT A SOLAR SEED TODAY

About the campaign

Community means everyone.

The Solar Seed Campaign is starting the week of "Community Means Everyone" week here at the University of Dayton, a week to take time out of our busy lives to show respect for and celebrate the dignity of all people. As a Catholic, Marianist institution, UD values education in pursuit of service, justice, and peace, and our UD RE-volv team takes these values outside of the university and into the surrounding community, furthering RE-volv's misison to educate and empower.

We believe that it takes a community to cultivate change.

We're planting a (solar) seed, giving community members the ability to contribute to the climate solution in a tangible way that will grow as more nonprofits go solar. The Solar Seed Fund is a revolving loan fund for solar that grows and spreads more solar the bigger it gets.

RE-volv is a model that works.

The nonprofits we partner with have deep roots in the community. Solar empowers those nonprofits to strengthen their bonds by becoming more energy independent. They save money on their electricity bill, which can be used to further their mission and increase their impact. In Dayton, our team installed solar panels on Mission of Mary Cooperative with the support of community members. Now when people come to the urban farm, directors Mike and Steve can have an educational moment in front of the solar panels about clean energy, climate change, and sustainability. Early next year, we’re installing solar panels at East End Community Services, giving them an electric bill cut that can be reinvested into their afterschool programming, housing development, and career counseling. Solar is a viable solution, and helping nonprofits access funding is a crucial step in the fight for our climate.

Every little bit counts, and all donations are tax deductible.

We have a responsibility to sow seeds for a brighter future. Let’s plant a solar seed together!
