Wayside Chapel is a Christian church that has been serving the Rosamond, California community for 42 years. Guided by a mission to care for the community, Wayside Chapel runs spiritual and social justice programs for youth and their families. Wayside Chapel meets community needs through programs, including operating winter warming shelters, food assistance programs, and other community outreach efforts.

The Wayside Chapel serves hundreds of congregation and community members each year. The congregation, which has over 180 members, made a unified decision to bring solar energy to their church. Wayside leadership shared, “We firmly believe that having solar at our church will not only influence our congregation to strongly consider solar at their personal residence but will also influence the surrounding community to do so.” Going solar will lower electricity bill costs while supporting clean energy jobs and demonstrating Wayside’s leadership for their community.

Bringing Solar to Wayside

Wayside’s solar installation remains underway. RE-volv staff will work with an accredited solar installer to install a 100 kW solar system on the roof of Wayside Chapel in Rosamond, California. This solar system will save Wayside more than $1,154,800 on electricity bills over the lifetime of the system while removing 6 million pounds of emissions from entering the atmosphere. With the savings from going solar with RE-volv, Wayside can invest these savings back into their programming, such as the Food Packs for Kids, Hypothermia Shelter, and year-long outreach programs.
